Pre Christmas Spearfishing Bonuses

It was nine days before Christmas and I had previously (a month) taken my kayak fishing buddy Stan, to Wild Blue spearfishing store in Auckland to get him fitted out with some dive gear. Stan, who is in his fifties, had decided that he wanted to get into the sport of spearfishing from a kayak. We had ventured out together many times when he had fished with a rod whilst I got into the water for a look around with speargun in hand. Stan would often be out fished and besides, you don’t usually catch crayfish and scallops on a line.

February last year I was fortunate to have a visit from Cameron, a fellow freediver / spearfisherman from Australia. We had originally made contact through the NZ fishing website as Cameron had put up a post looking for spearo’s to go out diving with whilst visiting NZ.
