Hump Headed Horrors of South Australia

I have often flicked through Australian fishing magazines and seen pictures of large, hump headed snapper. They were always ugly looking things but they were also always very large. Now I’m the sort of guy who will chase snapper anywhere and the idea of wrestling one of those hump headed beasts held great appeal.

Many Australian lure casting junkies cut their teeth on bread and butter species like bream and flathead. Both species are easily accessible and eat artificials with sometimes-suicidal tendencies. It’s an apprenticeship that hones an angler’s skills in many ways such as casting, boat positioning and finding fish. It’s a complete package that makes a good fisherman as they say.
